About the Wellness Ambassadors Program

A SHINE Wellness Ambassador (WA) is a medical student peer who can act as a hub for wellness resources for medical students in preclerkship. WAs have knowledge of resources related to equity, diversity and inclusion, sexual violence prevention and support, campus community safety, accessibility, multi-faith, crisis identification and referral, as well as safeTALK (suicide alertness training). WAs aim to assist you in navigating diverse wellness resources (e.g. physical and mental health, financial, spiritual, environmental).

***Wellness Ambassadors are NOT COUNSELLORS***
WAs are medical students with knowledge of many campus and community wellness resources. Although WAs are able to provide informal peer support, their main focus is on resource navigation.

Identifying information disclosed to a WA will be kept CONFIDENTIAL unless there is a concern that you will harm yourself or others. In this case, the WA must refer you to a crisis line and disclose your name and situation to the Office of Learner Affairs (OLA). OLA will then reach out to you through email for a voluntary check-in.

Josephine Ding
Josephine Ding (she/her) (2T7) Fun Fact: I once ran into Jason Momoa at Ramen Isshin in Toronto! What keeps you well: spending time with friends, trying new cafés or restaurants and running
Azin Dolatabadi
Azin Dolatabadi (2T7) Fun fact: I’m a huge scaredy-cat but love watching murder mysteries and crime shows (anyone a fan of Bones?) What keeps you well: Spending time in nature and going for long walks, baking and cooking, and exploring restaurants with friends!
Angelica Hanna (2T7) A fun fact about me is that I have run a marathon. What keeps me well: Spending time with family and friends keeps me well. Working out and being active in general are also big contributors to my wellness. I love weightlifting, running and going for long nature walks.
Andy Liu
Andy Liu (2T7) Fun fact: I have never broken a bone! What keeps me well: I love going on bike rides on local trails across Toronto!
Kara Ly
Kara Ly (2T6). Fun Fact: I worked as a server for a catering company prior to medical school! What Keeps Me Well: Putting effort into things outside of medicine! I'm currently taking ice skating lessons, and I love planning special events for birthdays and holidays. :)
Vivsha Shah (2T7) Fun fact: I love to dance! In my free time I like to choreograph and teach dance. What keeps me well: spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants (always open to new vegetarian recommendations!), practicing mindfulness, being active in general (dancing, going on walks or playing sports).
Anita Singh (2T6) Fun fact: I used to work part-time at an indoor archery place that was Game of Thrones-themed - stone towers and everything! I was just the receptionist, so I don't actually know how to do archery... and I've never watched Game of Thrones. What keeps me well: Going on walks, rewatching movies, and getting treats (on both good and bad days).
Eden Har-Gil
Eden Har-Gil (2T7) Fun fact: I'm an aunt to 4 nieces and nephews! What keeps me well: Making sure I regularly spend time with family and friends, and going on walks outside
Stuart McKinlay
Stuart McKinlay (he/him) (2T6) Fun fact: I've held Tom Riddle's diary used in the Harry Potter movies! What keeps you well: Playing guitar, listening to records, cheering on my sports teams, reading, watching movies with friends, wearing cozy clothes, and consuming copious amounts of coffee!
Kanya Rajendra
Anchita Shonak
Anchita Shonak (2T6) Fun fact: I am left-handed! What keeps me well: Cooking and baking for my loved ones
Alisia Chen
Alisia Chen (2T5) A Fun Fact: I have 2 birthdays (ask me how in person!) What keeps you well: Prioritizing seeing friends and family, good bread, comfort youtubers, and reminding myself that balance looks different everyday!
